About the Department

The Virginia Beach Police Department is currently commanded by Chief Paul Neudigate, who was appointed in 2020.

Three deputy chiefs and a support division manager oversee the major divisions within the department. This leadership team directs the force of over 1,000 sworn officers and civilians who serve the residents and annual visitors of our community.

The chief and his deputies oversee the four major areas of the department.
