The Administrative Division oversees internal investigations, policy initiatives, records, animal services, logistics, and more. It includes the following units:
The Animal Services Bureau investigates animal cruelty cases and operates the City’s Animal Care & Adoption Center, which offers adoptable pets a second chance at a forever home.
Allegations of misconduct by police department personnel are investigated the Professional Standards Bureau.
As a fact-finding body, this unit conducts administrative investigations, when are forwarded for review and recommendations.
The Virginia Freedom of Information Act (VFOIA), located in the Code of Virginia § 2.2-3700 et seq., guarantees citizens of the Commonwealth and representatives of the media access to public records held by public bodies, public officials, and public employees.
