Deputy Chief Brad Wesseler is a Virginia Beach native and has served with the Virginia Beach Police Department for more than 22 years. He has held a variety of leadership assignments, including Commanding Officer of the Second Precinct, Executive Aide to the Police Chief, Second Precinct Night Shift Commander, and supervisor of the Fatal Crash Team, Motor Carrier Unit, Crisis Negotiation Team, Civil Disturbance Response Team, and Crime Prevention Unit.

Throughout his career, Deputy Chief Wesseler has led patrol and specialized operations, managed critical incidents and major events, developed data-driven public safety strategies, and built strong partnerships with community, business, and regional leaders. His executive experience includes managing organizational and operational matters, advancing strategic initiatives, and leading efforts to strengthen departmental programs and services.

Deputy Chief Wesseler holds a Master of Public Administration from Old Dominion University and a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing from Radford University. He is a graduate of the Police Executive Research Forum Senior Management Institute for Police, the Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police Professional Executive Leadership School, Hampton Roads Chamber Lead 757, and multiple FBI leadership programs. As a native of Virginia Beach, he is proud to serve the community where he was raised and remains committed to professional policing, strong community partnerships, and developing future leaders.
