The Youth Services Unit offers multiple camps in the summer to give young people chances to interact directly with police officers in positive environments.
Applications are being accepted for the 2026 summer youth day camps: Camp Blue Line and Camp Connect! These camps are a collaboration between the Virginia Beach Police Athletic League and the VBPD Youth Services Unit.
Camp Connect is a two-week camp focused on building positive connections between youth and their community. Campers engage with mentors, peers, and various city agencies while learning about firearm safety, conflict resolution, financial literacy, and water safety.
Camp Blue Line is a two-week program designed for teens interested in law enforcement. It offers an introduction to police work and insight into what to expect during the police academy. Topics covered include investigations, forensics, firearm safety, physical fitness, water safety, mental wellness, and school safety. The camp also features scenario-based training, demonstrations, field trips, and tours of police facilities.
In addition, participants in both camps will complete the Law Enforcement Against Drugs and Violence (LEAD) program.
All camps will be held at the Virginia Beach Law Enforcement Training Center. Campers will be supervised at all times by Youth Services Officers and School Resource Officers, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
