Next Option 6 Academy: May 30, 2024. Interested individuals should apply by March 15.
The Virginia Beach Police Department’s Option 6 Academy is a new initiative to train sheriff’s deputies and certified jailers for a career in policing.
Recruits in the Option 6 Academy are compensated for their skills and service with other law enforcement agencies in the area. The starting salary guidelines for Option 6 recruit pay are:
Note: After completion of the Option 6 Academy and obtaining their certification as a sworn police officer, they will progress through the Professional Development Program in the same manner as all other sworn personnel.
